Responsibilities:

Specific duties include:

1 Carry out the Company’s Health Physics Policies and procedures for various clients under the supervision of the Principal Health Physicist

2 Operate, maintain, and inventory radiation monitoring equipment

3 Conduct radiological surveys using complex equipment and alert supervisors of any contamination

4 Assist clean-up of any simple radiological contamination or spill

5 Document and interpret survey and sampling data clearly and error free

6 Provide training to HP Techs, Lab Tech, Lab Instructors and other personnel with working with/near radioactive materials

7 Research and interpret state and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) policies and regulations regarding safe handling of radioactive materials

8 Be responsible for shipping out and receiving radioactive materials according to NRC guidelines

9 Perform storage of radioactive materials and conduct free release once the radioactivity has completely decayed

10 Coordinate delivery and collection of radiation PPE, sources and equipment for various clients

11 Calculate radiation dose to workers and public

12 Perform shielding calculations

Education and Experience Requirements:

Employer requires candidate to have a bachelor’s degree in Physics, Biology, Chemistry or closely related science field.

Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety gained through at least two (2) years of work experience.

Candidate must also have the following:

1 Demonstrated ability performing simple radiation surveys and wipe tests and analyzing the results gained through at least one (1) year of work experience;

2 Demonstrated ability utilizing radiation detection instruments gained through at least one (1) year of work experience including utilization of each of the following radiation detection instruments: Ludlum Model 3 with Geiger probe and sodium-iodine probe; Ludlum 3030; Ludlum model 2350; and Liquid Scintillation Counter; and

3 Demonstrated ability working with clients in the field, including RSOs, ARSOs and/or state regulators gained through at least one (1) year of work experience.

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.

50% domestic travel required.

He is a global business leader with 35 years of international general management and global functional leadership experience in the safety industry. His most recent role was as Sr. Vice-President, MSA Safety and President of MSA International. He has worked in 6 continents and lived in the USA and Europe. Ron also serves as Chairperson of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association, Vice-chair of the Pittsburgh Symphony, Treasurer for the Three Rivers Chapter, Association for Corporate Growth, and Director for the Three Rivers Chapter – National Association of Corporate Directors.
Willie Harris

A recognized industry leader in Radiation Protection with over forty years of experience, including twelve years leading and managing the radiation protection program for the largest fleet of nuclear power plants in the United States. Willie is a Certified Health Physics (CHP) with a diverse background in radiation protection which includes operational Health Physics, ALARA/Radiological Engineering, training, decommissioning and laser safety. Willie is currently serving as a Council member for the National Council of Radiation Protection (NCRP).
Don Flahardy

A Certified Health Physicist with over 40 years of experience in Radiation Protection. Don’s career includes PWR and BWR Reactor Health Physics technical, ALARA, training, supervisory, and management positions including the Radiation Protection Manager for a large New England power reactor. Additionally, Don has managed health physics programs for byproduct material license decommissioning operations. Don is a plenary member of the Health Physics Society and has served on several health physics guideline committees for the Electric Power Research Institute.
Robert Keene

A Certified Health Physicist with over 30 years of experience in the U.S. Navy, University/Hospital broad scope radioactive materials, operating commercial nuclear power plants and decommissioning of commercial nuclear power plants. Robert has knowledge and experience in the fields of operations, waste management, radiation protection, chemistry, emergency response and environmental remediation. Robert’s current responsibilities are associated with demolition planning and technical/operational Health Physics support.
Greg Hegel

Greg Hegel leads the fiscal, operational, and human resource aspects of C.N. Associates. In this capacity, Greg provides strategic direction to the Company’s financial decision-making processes, oversees Company resource management, and handles employment-related matters. Prior to joining C.N. Associates, Greg held various finance and accounting positions in the venture capital and life science industries.
